Email from your engine
How your engine sends email — and why the delivery service never reads your messages.
Your Context Engine can send email — things like invitations and notifications. Depending on how your hosting partner set it up, your engine sends mail in one of a few ways:
- Partner-managed delivery — your partner's platform relays the email for you. This is the simplest setup and needs nothing from you.
- Your own email provider — your engine is pointed at a mail service you already use.
- Off — your engine doesn't send outbound email at all.
Content-blind delivery
When email goes through the partner-managed relay, that relay is content-blind: it forwards your message on to be delivered, but it doesn't store or read the contents. It's a pass-through, with sensible rate limits to prevent abuse — not a mailbox someone can browse.
What address does it come from?
Your engine sends from an address tied to your engine, so recipients can tell it came from you. If you need a specific sender address or your own domain, ask your partner — that's part of the email setup.
Not getting expected emails?
A few common reasons:
- Email might be turned off for your engine — your partner can switch it on.
- The message may have landed in spam — check there first.
- There are rate limits to prevent abuse, so a large burst of messages can be slowed.
If email still isn't arriving, your hosting partner can check the delivery setup for your engine.
